Hi peeps.

Thought I'd post up a spec list and pics of my FN2 GT.

  • RBF600 Brake Fluid

  • Hondata Flashpro

Exhaust cleaned and ready to go on. Magnex was a bit of an unknown when buying it as Magnex went out of business and not many FN2 kits were sold. It makes the same gains as the HKS exhaust, so pretty happy with it.

Looks stock, goes like the clappers. 😉

Great work and great results.

Does this have a LSD fitted? Wasn't it optional on these and towards the end fitted as standard?

Cheers.

Unfortunately no LSD. Would cost around £1,200 to get one sorted.

The LSDs first came in on the limited run Championship White Editions which came out in 2009. Then on the Mugen M200s which were basically Championship White editions with different wheels, front and rear splitters and a Mugen badge but no more power. Finally all FN2s built after April 2010 came with an LSD, so never really an dealer option, just around this time you had the pick of either the pre April or post April spec cars.

Came on to update my members car thread but seems it has been deleted or removed. It's old location is linked in my signature if the mods fancy re-instating it or putting it in the EP3, DC2, DC5, FN2, EK9 Chat section.

Would have been nice to have been notified that it was being deleted.

Anyhow I'll wait to see restored or start a new thread.

In the meantime...

Well decided to keep the car so have cracked on with the mods. Wavetrac and Rotrex Sport kit on order, GP pack arrived on Wednesday.

Got woken up early by the little-un this morning, skies were clear so decided to get on with fitting the GP kit.

This is the result.

Took me 2 1/2 hours taking my time.

Small update.

Took a long planned trip to TDi-North on Thursday, left the car with them and picked it back up on Saturday.

Added a Rotrex C30-94 Sport kit, F1 Racing Stage 3 clutch, F1 Racing 4.65kg Flywheel, a Wavetrac LSD and the TDi-North Short Shifter.

Only taken one photo of the engine bay since it has been done and this as it was being driven off the bay and onto the dyno. I'll get some more over time, but this weekend has just been manic!

This is the end result.

Worth baring in mind this is still with the standard exhaust manifold and cat! The only other power mods I have are a HKS Racing Suction Kit, Magnex cat back, FD2 oil pump and Flashpro as well as the charger. I've got a friend who is an MOT tester and we are going to stick the probe in next weekend to see if it would pass. Madness if it does! :-D

Seriously chuffed with it. You can pootle about at low revs and you wouldn't know there was anything different about it, but get above 4,000 rpm and the magic starts to happen! Really smooth and easy to make progress, it's a hoot to drive!

The LSD helps to get the power down and is unbelievable on the twisties! I thought the car handled well before, but it is in a different league now. You guys will know this already, but it is all brand new to me! :P

Looks superb mate :-D As per the above poster, did you opt for intercooler in the end? Seriously contemplating a charger on my FD2

Decided against the intercooler in the end.

We had a feeling it would make good figures anyway and I don't want to stress the engine too much with silly high power.

Did you go for the lighter flywheel to combat the loss of throttle-response due to the extra load of turning the supercharger? Is there any loss of throttle response even now? She must be a right beast now

Yes, I've got a 4.65kg flywheel in.

The throttle response is pretty savage to be honest. I might get it reduced a bit when I take the car back in a couple of weeks to check everything is settling in OK, that is if I'm not used to it by then.

Good man, what a beast!!!!

I would be interested to find out about the wavetrac LSD. I chose the Quaife over the Wavetrac for my EP3, purely because I didn´t know much about the wavetrac back then. But I have read they are better than Quaifes. Let us know how you get on!

Spoke to some people at JAE and some people have seen my FB check-in.

Long and short is the charger is coming off and I'm going back NA.

I didn't get on with it too well. Right from when I first picked it never really felt like it was going to be a long term thing, I didn't bond with it so to speak. Then I've had a few teething issues that have been nothing really but it's knocked my confidence in it a bit and I've got the niggling feeling with it that the next thing would be major. I said to Paul today that I'm sure it will be fine, but once you get that feeling you can't get rid of it.

So the car is in TDi-North now having the charger taken off and the RRC inlet manifold, TDi-North Big Throttle body and the Tegiwa Manifold fitted. Pick it back up on Wednesday morning.

Now to be a bit different I'm also having Skunk2 Stage 1 cams and valve springs fitted. Because I've got the FD2 oil pump it will be safe to rev up to 9,000 rpm which should be interesting!

Whether Paul sets the limiter that high depends on whether the power continues to climb over 8,000 or not. With the RRC/TB and Skunk2 cams there is every chance, but we will have to wait and see.

Also getting the Stoptech Big Brake Kit and spacers front and rear done when they arrive in a few weeks. I said to Paul I didn't mind which colour, so I think they are red. I like surprises, nice ones at least.

So there it is, NA is back. No point chasing figures so to speak as it will never be as quick as when the charger was on, but drivable it will be.

Oh and it has to be said, Paul has been brilliant about it all. He's listened to what I've said and talked with me at length about where we should go and get done to it. TDi-North FTW!

May I ask what issues did you face? Good luck with the new set-up hopefully it will be more to your taste.

Wow another major change in direction - good luck with the new setup, sounds like it is going to be fun fun fun :-D
