Here at Torque GT we take pride in the conversions we do on the cars for use in the UK and we are always striving to improve the service we offer. We get a lot of questions about the conversions we do, especially on the FD2 Civic Type R model. We thought this would be an opportunity to explain what the options are and the different methods involved.

Historically we fitted kmh > mph converters to the FD2. If we imported your car between 2007 and July 2017 this is the method we would have used. The advantage of this method is that the 180 km/h speed limit is removed, the disadvantage being that the converter is prone to water ingress as it sits in the engine bay and you have to put some black tape over the k of kmh which looks slightly naff.

Since July 2017 we have been able to modify the coding in the car so the mph legend displays correctly on the top part of the dash.

We can then remove the speed limit via a separate process if the first UK owner wants us too.

Mine wasn’t imported by you but thankfully the previous owner took it to you guys for a service and had this conversion done at the same time. It looks much better :)
