Anyone else had to replace the battery on their FD2 yet? Due to not being used for three months and the stupidly low temperatures my battery will no longer take/hold a charge so need to replace it. Problem is all the ratings and model number etc are in Japanese so don't know what cranking current etc that i'm looking for!
any suggestions welcome! cheers

my battery is on its way out also,i hadnt used my car since christmas eve and went out to start it last weekend to find the battery as flat as a pancake  ,also when i turned the ignition on the indicators all started flashing very dim and the relay was clicking,i put the charger on to it but the charger just tripped so i disconected the battery then tried the charger again on a trickle charge.so far so good, might be a good idea to leave the battery disconected if your not using the car for a while.

DC5 owners tend to get the Nisan Micra battery as a replacement from Halfords or equiv. It's slightly bigger but the terminals are the right size and side. I assume this will work for the FD2 (ie same fitment). Failing that I guess you should go for an OEM one source via Dave Johnson at Steels Honda http://www.steelshereford.com/

While my baby is garaged I use a CTEK http://www.ctek.com charger designed to keep the battery optimally charged/conditioned whilst the car is in storage. It even has a very low temperature setting for cold weather. Not cheap but it's served me well over the years with the DC5 and FD2.

I managed to jump start the car last night and took it out for a two hour blast and it seems to be holding a charge now so i reckon it was just my charger that was goosed! I'm getting a ctek for my birthday from the misses in a week so hopefully shouldn't be a problem again 😉

Mine aint too bad considering I only drive it weekends..

I'm thinking of getting one of these from Honda

£45 Retail...but I won't pay that 😉

Yeah, I'm having problems this year. Its still the OEM 2002 battery and this cold weather has kicked the crap out of it.

It only gets a run every 2 weeks at them moment.

Honda's happiness scheme should guarantee you a good price so I would just try the main dealers.

Also ^^^^they are a good idea.

mine is crap, i have to charge it if the car is not used for more than a week, will repalce with a micra one as i did in the DC5 when I get a chance.

Mine's dead too, I can't even unlock the doors without putting the key in the lock.

I tried jump starting but the manual said to connect the -ve clip to earthing strip and the sparks were too scary.

Does the micra battery fit ok, anybody tried? Where else could I get a suitable battery? Honda don't have any and aren't even going to make any more until april.

I'm in the same situation, haven't driven the car for 2 weeks, went to start it on Saturday and nothing, had to use the key just to get into the car.

Got it started thanks to the AA and left it running for at least 30 minutes, stopped it and it started again, however I went out again this morning (Sunday) and it was flat again, had to use the key to get into and no power to anything.

It would be good to know which Micra battery fits as I plan to get a new battery and then probably purchase one the CTEK chargers

Hi mate it's this Nissan Micra battery you are after (assuming it's the same as the DC5 - which I think it is).

Halfords : HB 054

Thanks jonster, I don't suppose you or anyone else knows of a UK stockiest for CTEK that will deliver? As I think I'll get the MULTI US 3300.

The HB054 from halfords is too long for the FD2 so its back to the drawing board! I reckon the starting battery in the civic IMA will be the same so going to try that today hopefully.

Won't be the same as the IMA .. :naughty:

From Honda- 31500-SNB-003 On Backorder, which really means coming from Japan !!

£63.73 Incl vat, I might order one & see how long it takes

That's a good price (comparable to Halfrauds) and for a smaller / lighter / better battery. Good to know.

Just bought one from honda thats for the Civic hybrid and its the same size as the standard one. Are you saying its not going to be any good? Considering the dc5's run the same battery as a 1.0ltr micra i figured this woudl be fine for the FD2?!?!?! oh and it was £63.73 as well. :dontknow:

anybody know what size the FN2 battery is? i recall it being on the small side as well, maybe it will fit???
